At the end of the First World War "Homes for Heroes" were built for soldiers returning from the war, each having a smallholding. The only surviving bungalow - with orchard still functional is Dunsley Bungalow, with Jeacock's Orchard. As part of the Tring Apple Fayre the orchard is open on 9th October, and there will be a display at Tring Library between 10th and 24th October.

Orchard, Cow Lane, Tring. All the fun of the fayre – apples for sale from Cam Valley Orchards, Royston, apple pressing
and juice, country crafts, displays, wildlife, apple ID, Farmers Market stalls,
music, beekeeping and honey products, medieval mayhem and locally prepared refreshments…see
the local conservation team in action and Tring’s last peasant. A WWI
smallholding listed by English Heritage and Wildlife Site – see your heritage
come alive! This is very much a local event with limited facilities.
